Chrissy Smith is a May 2003 graduate of Texas State University. This is where she received her Bachelor's of Science in Dance with Teacher Certification. This allows her to teach in the Public School System. Here she studied under Dr. Joan Hayes, one of dance's most innovative teachers and authors.
Chrissy has studied dance since the age of 3 and has been competing nationally since the age of 9. She has won numerous first place trophies, ribbons, and plaques. She also has received many titles while dancing in national competitions including Dancer of the Year Finalist. Chrissy has danced in Las Vegas, Florida, South Carolina, and California to name a few.
Chrissy was a member of the John Marshall High School Dance Team where she served as Senior Captain. This allowed her to help run a large dance team, go to competitions, and perform in Disneyland in California. Chrissy was also 4th runner up Miss Alamo City and 3rd runner up Miss Southwest Texas in Showmakers Solo Competitions.
This will be the fifth year that Chrissy's Dance Academy has been in operation and the fourth year for their competitive group, Premiere Dance Co. Chrissy has choreographed many nationally award winning pieces, including a tap piece that won 2007 Showstoppers Mid-America National Champions, and a tap piece that won 2008 Starbound National Champions
Chrissy and her daughters are Helotes residents. Kali is 5 and begins kinder this year. Jayli will be 2 at the end of December 2008. They can't wait to begin another promising and fun filled year!!
