Rebekah Caffey

Bio coming soon…Rebekah Caffey, a Dallas, TX native, has extensive training in many styles of dance including ballet, modern, tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip-hop. She received most of her modern training from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts under the direction of J. Kyle Richards and Lily Cabatu Weiss. At the Arts Magnet High School, she was a proud member of the Advanced Repertory I Dance Companyfor two years, and was frequently asked to improv in museums for newly displayedworks of art.

Rebekah studied her freshman year of college with the Texas Christian University Ballet and Modern Dance Department where she performed in their Spring Concert and Senior Showcase. After attending TCU, she continued her modern and ballet training at Brookhaven College.

She attended the American Dance Festival in 2004 and 2005 with full scholarships and performed in the International Choreographers Commissioning Program (ICCP) under Toru Shimazaki (Japan). Rebekah has performed works by numerous renowned choreographers such as Robert Battle, Adam Hougland, Jessica Lang, Jason Parsons, Kanji Segawa, andMing-Lung Yang. She has been a member of the tap company The Drawbacks since 2000 and has been a member of the Dallas modern dance company Ewert & Company since 2005.

Rebekah has received many awards and scholarships including the National Foundation of the Arts for Jazz Dance, the John Hofsas award for outstanding choreography, and the Heywood “Woody” McGriff award for outstanding performance. She is also very honored to be a recipient of the Jerry Bywaters Cochran Scholarship.

Her choreography has been recognized from severalcompetitions and conventions such as Hall of Fame Dance Challenge, New York City Dance Alliance, Starpower Talent Competition, and Starpower Nationals. In 2009,Rebekah set a piece on the Brookhaven College Dance Company and showcased her own solo “Undermining:Stop”at the American College Dance Festival in Nacogdoches, Texas.  Rebekah has choreographed for many performing companies in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, one showcasing at the Brookhaven College Summer Dance Festival in 2008. In addition to performing and choreography, Rebekah has also done volunteer work for Mary Johnson’s “Imagine the Impossible” Dream Workshop for inner-city children
