Jenny Martinez is a 2007 graduate of Texas State University where she was an officer for the Strutter Dance Team. She began dancing at the age of three and to this day her passion for the art remains. As a dancer she was awarded many scholarships and accolades within the competitive circuit. She began training at the Edge Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles at the age of 18 and continues to further her training there each summer under the instruction of Terri Best, Nico O’Connor, Benjamin Allen, and Sam Allen. She is trained in ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, tap, and clogging. She had the opportunity to perform in the “Iconic” Groov3 showcase where she danced along side Robin Antin, under the direction of Benjamin Allen and Dean Bais in Los Angeles. She also assisted and appeared in Groov3’s “Living Room Sessions” kids edition with Benjamin Allen.
She began teaching at the age of sixteen and has had the privilege of being the assistant director of Premiere Dance Co. for the past 8 years. As the jazz and lyrical choreographer for Premiere, her pieces have been recognized both regionally and nationally receiving choreography awards from Bravo, Revolution, and Platinum Dance Competitions, as well as consistently placing in the overall awards each competition season. Her Elite Company lyrical group holds the Grand Champion Title for Starboard Nationals three years running. Many of her students are now title holders as well. She is also a faculty member for Power Dance Convention where she travels across the US and teaches contemporary.
Jenny loves being able to share her passion for dance with others and the opportunity to introduce students to a form of art that encourages self expression. Watching her students grow is the ultimate reward and often times it is her students who inspire her!
